Atea AVK Upgrades Stockholm University’s Analog System With HARMAN’s AKG Digital Wireless Solution

VIENNA, Austria – With 12 halls ranging in total seating capacity from 130 to 586, connected with outdated analog wireless capabilities, Atea Audio Visuell Kommunikation (AVK) of Sweden installed a complete digital HARMAN AKG DMS 700 wireless system in one of Sweden’s largest education facilities, Stockholm University. Combining a long-time relationship between supplier Septon Electronic AB and Stockholm University and RF frequency shifts in Sweden, the upgraded solution was perfectly coordinated, timed and implemented for 2011 sessions.

Exclusively distributing HARMAN professional brands in Sweden, Septon and Atea installed a future-proof digital system that was easy to handle and offered stable transmission ability. Atea installed 48 channels of DMS 700 digital wireless, all networked through HARMAN Professional’s HiQnet System Architect™.

“The Stockholm University Support and Maintenance Department laid out the challenges clearly from the beginning: a future-proof, simple-to-use and logistically sound solution was vital to the university,” stated Sales Manager Stefan Eriksson, Atea. “With the AKG DMS 700, we were able to provide the complete solution and the encryption possibilities added even more value, securing the wireless transmission within the halls.”

For speech reinforcement throughout the lecture rooms, the self-operated DPT 700 body packs were ideal for the professors in the halls, while the DHT 700 handheld transmitters were required for the reception desks throughout the university.

“The lecturers have adapted quickly and easily to their new digital world,” continued Eriksson. “Any inherent fears of adapting to the new technology were quickly resolved and the school year has proceeded with little to no technical issues.”
