BEIJING, China – Counting down to 2012, China dedicated its entire CCTV channel resources for the first time for a show in the National Stadium to ring in the New Year. With a celebration theme underlining the combination of internationalization and Chinese elements, a host of performers were seen and heard, live in the arena and around the world with the help of two HARMAN Soundcraft Vi6 digital consoles.
With more than 40 performances, featuring singers, dancers, acrobatics, magic, martial arts and orchestras, including Michael Bolton, jazz singer Lisa Ono and Casablanca author Bertie Higgins, the sound reinforcement system had to be reliable, secure and stable for the global broadcast.
Along with the Vi6’s, Advanced Communication Equipment, the largest HARMAN distributor in China, deployed 24 JBL VERTEC VT4889 fullsize line array elements, 24 VT4888 midsize, line array elements, eight VT4887 compact line array elements and 16 VT4880 fullsize arrayable subwoofers around the stadium. Sixteen PRX512M monitors were set up on the stage for monitoring, while 64 Crown I-Tech digital amplifiers powered the setup and BSS digital units processed the show.
