Crown by HARMAN’s New CDi DriveCore™ Series Brings Low Priced Amplification with Advanced DSP

New Amplifier Line Brings Flagship Features Targeted for Small- and Medium-Sized Installations

LAS VEGAS—Crown by HARMAN is continuing its commitment to deliver stellar performance at an affordable price by introducing new Crown CDi DriveCore Series amplifiers. The new CDi DriveCore Series leverages HARMAN’s innovative, multi-patented DriveCore™ technology to offer a balance of robust functionality and reasonable cost. The amplifiers offer the power and capabilities of Crown’s popular DriveCore Install (DCi) Series amplifiers with a streamlined set of options targeted to deliver optimal value to small and medium-sized installations.

“The Crown DCi Series permanently changed the expectations of high performance installation amplifiers,” says Emilian Wojtowycz, Restaurant and Retail Solutions Manager at HARMAN Professional Solutions. “The CDi DriveCore™ Series streamlines the functionality of the DCi Series and builds upon its innovation to offer premium performance without a premium price tag.” Like the flagship DCi Series amplifiers, the new CDi DriveCore amplifiers offer cutting-edge DriveCore™ technology for energy-efficient power handling. The amplifiers are available in two or four channel versions at 300W or 600W per channel. They provide the capability for low impedance (4/8 Ohms) amplification as well as constant voltage amplification with no transformers required, with both 70V and 100V options for installations worldwide. Each model is also available in a version with BLU link, HARMAN’s proprietary high-bandwidth, low-latency and fault tolerant digital audio bus.

For optimal sound, the CDi DriveCore Series includes Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to achieve precise speaker tuning. Commercial integrators and technicians can configure amplifier inputs/outputs, modify DSP settings and recall created settings from the built-in front panel, offering the ability for fast and simple configuration without a PC. As well, users wanting comprehensive configuration of the CDi DriveCore as well as other HARMAN audio products can use HARMAN’s Audio Architect software.

The option of using digital audio with BLU link simplifies pairing with other HARMAN products, such as a BSS Soundweb London BLU-50. This simplifies audio wiring when used with the large variety of HARMAN products that employ BLU link while optimizing audio fidelity. “The Crown CDi DriveCore Series is the next step in our continuous improvement of our contracting products,” says Wojtowycz. “These new amps pair with other HARMAN devices and offer contractors a feature-rich product family that is low in cost but high in advanced features and reliability.”

The Crown CDi DriveCore Series amplifiers are expected to ship in August 2016.
