HARMAN’s Soundcraft Vi Platform Perfect for Sezen Aksu Touring

ISTANBUL, Turkey — Altincizme, an audio rental company based in Istanbul, recently provided a pair of HARMAN Soundcraft Vi Series consoles as part of the sound reinforcement system for three concerts at Istanbul’s Harbiye Open Air Theater featuring legendary Turkish pop superstar Sezen Aksu. Appearing with her Acoustic Band (featuring Fahir Atakoğlu) she was returning after a 2-year absence from performing live for the Istanbul audience (having been away touring Europe with Vi6 consoles and Altinçizme).Once again the trusty Soundcraft desks were on duty in Istanbul.

The Vi1 at FOH and Vi6 at the stage removed any of the risks associated with the unpredictability of a Sezen Aksu performance. FOH sound engineer Serdar Altincizme says he swears by the 2-screen’ solution of the Vi, while monitor engineer Kenan Ozkaplan never seems to part with his Vi6 regardless of the venue or geographical location.

“I always request the Soundcraft Vi desks, and it seems like regardless of where I go, the companies are able to provide them,” claimed Mr. Altincizme. “There is no substitute, for all the emotions Ms. Aksu’s songs portray, the Vi simply absorbs it smoothly and transmits it to the audiences.”

Aside from the worldwide availability of the desk, the FOH engineer commends its compact footprint, smooth preamps and the board layout, which has an analogue feel to it.

Altincizme had been the first Turkish PA company to purchase and use the Vi6 when it was first manufactured, and prior to that, the family business, founded in 1955 by the late Necdet Altincizme, and managed by his sons Serdar and Serhan Altincizme, boasted over two decades of history with Soundcraft’s analogue line. Today they own two Vi6 consoles, two Vi1 consoles and stageboxes for all of the consoles.

The rental company also receives good local support and service from Samim Mutluer, from HARMAN Professional distributor, SF Ses ve Isik Sistemleri. “These desks are now in demand on almost every single rider,” concluded Serdar. “With its comfortable interface and premium pre-amps, it’s easy to see why we prefer it.”
