HARMAN’s Martin Professional at ULTRA Music Festival: Creating a Show in an Urban Core (Part 2/3)

MIAMI, Florida  — At this year’s ULTRA Music Festival, HARMAN’s Martin Professional lit the night with an array of lighting fixtures, including the RUSH 5x5 Strobe, RUSH MH2, RUSH PAR1, MAC III Profile, MAC Viper, MAC 101, MAC Aura, M-1 Control and M2go Console.

In preparing for a massive scale production such as ULTRA Music Festival, an epic battle takes place between the passion and dedication of the team and the challenges posed by the environment and the conditions under which the ULTRA Music Festival engine operates.

For the Miami shows, the location in downtown Miami represents one major challenge, as the festival grounds and the stage are shoehorned in between a busy street and a retaining wall. Lighting fixtures and all other technical elements of the festival and stage design are also being put to the test in this extreme environment, where excessive heat, high levels of humidity and endless amounts of dirt compete to compromise the performance of the fixtures.

Seemingly at the mercy of the environment, the performance of the fixtures ultimately depend on the skillfulness of the guys behind the scenes at ULTRA Music Festival headed by Stephen Lieberman - one of the world’s most innovative Lighting Designers. Creative forces come into play, as the hard work of these guys determines the success or failure of the shows. They face any obstacle with equal measures of skill, passion and dedication.

Being pushed to the limit motivates the team to each year strive for bigger, better, crazier. This is how the ULTRA Music Festival team continues to set the standard for innovation in stage design and why the industry looks to ULTRA Music Festival for inspiration and new ideas.

One of the things that help keep the team focused is the awareness of whom they’re doing it for. The ULTRA Music Festival crowd comprises all subcultures of electronic dance music (EDM) brought together for the ultimate celebration of the genre.

In this second video from behind the scenes at ULTRA Music Festival, we let you in on what it really takes to fire up the ULTRA Music Festival Engine and how much you gotta love your job to stay in the game.
