SANDY, Utah — Harman’s
IDX System is a seamless audio and visual information delivery solution that
provides a highly flexible and scalable way to communicate important
information for way-finding. It aids those who must navigate complex spaces like
today’s airports, transit stations and other public spaces. Following a series of successful IDX deployments
for large, sophisticated venue projects including convention centers, train
stations and international airports, HARMAN Professional is now making its
smaller-scale IDX 100 integrated audio and messaging system available to a
wider market.
IDX 100 is a comprehensively-featured paging, messaging and
background music system for serving up to 96 output zones. Using a small number
of powerful system components and a building block approach to system design,
IDX 100 represents a straightforward solution for even the most demanding communication
system applications.
At the heart of the system is the PDC-100 controller, which provides centralized
management and logging of IDX 100 system activity. The PDC-100 also provides
storage of pre-recorded messages and playback of up to two simultaneous message
channels. Signal processing and
distribution is provided by the PDP-DSP processors, which manage digital audio
for up to 48 output zones. PDP-BOB break-out boxes provide IDX 100 system
scalability, with zone outputs in blocks of eight channels.
For systems requiring failover functionality, the CT16S amplifier switcher can be used to
provide amplifier backup. The PDC-100 monitors the CT16S and, in the event
that a primary amplifier channel failure is detected, the controller instructs
the amplifier switcher to engage the appropriate idle backup amplifier
channel. The PDP-DSP processor and CT16S
amplifier switcher both feature General Purpose Inputs and Outputs (GPIO) which
allow IDX 100 systems to be integrated with external systems, such as fire
alarms.
Day-to-day control of IDX 100 systems is facilitated by elegant
desk-mount paging stations. Up to 12 DT-715 15-button
paging stations can be used in an IDX 100 system and up to 12 DTE-710
10-button extensions can be used per paging station. Numerous system functions are
assignable to buttons on the paging stations and extensions, bringing direct control
of paging, message playback and background music to local users.
IDX 100 Designer is the setup, control and monitoring
software application for IDX 100 systems. Its IDX System Wizard guides users
through the step-by-step configuration process.
Commenting on the introduction, Iain Gregory, Market Manager - Installed
Sound, HARMAN Signal Processing noted, “IDX 100 simplifies system design and
deployment with no compromise whatsoever on feature-set or performance. Working closely with our software partner Com-Net
and customers in the field, we’ve seamlessly integrated complex technologies to
make IDX 100 comprehensive and cohesive, yet intuitive and easily deployable. It brings a new level of system integration
and performance to schools, commercial facilities, smaller infrastructure hubs
and other public areas.”
