LAS VEGAS, Nevada - In response to the growing popularity of 4x4-foot ceiling tiles in public buildings, HARMAN's JBL Professional introduced the MTC-48TRx12 tile rail today at InfoComm 2012. The MTC-48TRx12 is compatible with many of JBL's ceiling speakers, allowing those speakers to be installed into today's increasingly popular 1200 mm (48 inch) ceiling tile grid systems without requiring customization on the part of the integrator.
The MTC-48TRx12's inverted-V design, which is common for most of JBL's tile rails, minimizes transmission of vibrations to the ceiling grids while ensuring strong support of the speakers. The rails are extra-thick, providing the required support for the extra length. MTC-48TRx12 tile rails can be used with 8124/28, all Control 19CS models, all Control 24C Micro models, all Control 24C models, all Control 26C models, all Control 40 Series models, and Control 226C/T.
Jim Ford, President of Ford Audio-Video Systems, commented, "There is a definite trend in building design toward using 4x4-foot ceiling tiles. Many public buildings with high ceilings are being designed with a 4x4 ceiling grid. The larger tile size requires less labor and materials to install and results in a cleaner visual appearance. In the past, it has been challenging to install ceiling speakers in these larger tiles because they require longer support rails to reach the tile grids and the support device needs to be stronger to span the longer distance. I appreciate JBL's quick response to our needs by introducing tile rails especially designed for use with this increasingly popular ceiling design style."
