The most awaited rock festival in Southern India - Summer Storm, is a treat for a growing tribe of heavy metal and rock music followers in India. This bi-annual show saw its second successful edition take place at Palace Grounds, Bangalore in February 2012. Harman Professional India's association with the festival as an exclusive 'Live Sound Partner', underscored its legendary reputation of offering complete sound reinforcement gear and the company's focus on providing Indian audiences with a concert experience of international standards.
A high octane event brought together five renowned metal and hard rock bands from India and abroad on one stage to play for crowds in excess of 7000 people. Headlining the show was Swedish band 'Opeth' who have gained a massive following across the country and were playing in India for the second time. Other international bands at the show were 'SuidArka' (Germany) and 'Nothnegal' (Maldives). Also featured at the festival were two rising stars from India- Eccentric Pendulum and Theorized who also took the stage.
The entire crowd was electrified with hours of uncompromisingly intense output, and the very excited FOH Engineer for Opeth, Olle talked about his experience with the sound reinforcement, "The JBL VerTec VT4889/VT4880A rig sounded really good. My experience was very enjoyable. Good gear and very good crew. I had a great time overall".

Demonstrating the growing worldwide adoption of JBL VERTEC(r) line arrays for major entertainment-industry events and keeping in mind the requirement of ensuring that every section of the audience (front and back), no matter the turnout, experienced the same sound quality, - the main sound setup comprising of 20 JBL VerTec VT4889s in 2 main hangs of 10-per-side, with 8 JBL CSR Subs stacked 4-per-side, while the center sub's were VT 4880. 8 JBL VT 4886s were used as center-fills and the stage setup consisted of 6 JBL VT 4886s & 4883s as side-fills. The stage monitoring system comprised of 12 JBL VRX915Ms, all of which were powered by Crown I-Tech HD 5000s.

To power the entire system, Crown by Harman I-Tech HD 5000s, 9000s & 12000s were used while the FOH was mixed using the industry standard Soundcraft Vi6 console.
The processing for the bi-amped monitors was done using the Crown I-Tech HD's built-in DSP which helped bring out the monitors' fantastic sound. An AKG Drum SET II was used for micing one of the drum kits while an AKG Rhythm Pack, with D40, used for the other kit. To complete the setup, AKG C414, C451B & D5 microphones and AKG WMS4000 wireless system were used.

With sound being the crux of the event here, it was a matter of choosing an expert to complete the stage set-up and the audio rig. Therefore it was handled by V&P Sound, one of Southern India's leading sound rental company. Incidentally the company also provided the setup at the last edition of Summer Storm which was headlined by the renowned band 'Lamb of God in 2010. Overture India- the organisers of the event, going by their previous experience of a powerful and successful show at the 'Lamb of God' gig, in consultation with V& P Sound, chose to rely on Harman Professional audio systems for Summer Storm 2012, yet again.
The extensive use of Harman equipment for Summer Storm came not just out of necessity for great sound, but it was also the first choice of equipment for a number of the bands. The high quality sound of the industry benchmarked JBL VERTEC ensured that Summer Storm festival gained the approval of rock fans across the sub continent.
