HARMAN Professional Solutions Delivers Divine Sound to the 47th Annual GMA Dove Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—HARMAN Professional Solutions’ JBL VTX line arrays and Crown I-Tech amplifiers helped deliver superior sound quality and coverage to the GMA Dove Awards, known as the “Grammy Awards for Christian Music.”

For the third consecutive year, longtime HARMAN Professional Solutions customer and prominent live sound company, CTS Audio of Brentwood, Tennessee, deployed JBL VTX line arrays and Crown I-Tech HD amplifiers at the annual awards show. The event took place at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena, led by hosts Erica Campbell and Sadie Robertson, with performances by Casting Crowns, Kirk Franklin, Lauren Daigle and Danny Gokey.

The system featured JBL, including 10 VTX V25-II full-size line arrays per side for the main hang, eight VTX S28 subwoofers per side, 16 VTX V20 loudspeakers for outfill and eight VT4886 line array elements as distributed sets for front fill. Crown I-Tech12000 HD amplifiers powered the system, which was managed with JBL HiQnet Performance Manager software.

“We received a number of different benefits using the new VTX line arrays,” said John Schwarz, Lead System Designer, CTS Audio. “They were impactful, provided a tremendous amount of low end but were also controlled in a volume of space.”

Schwarz said CTS Audio had to strike a delicate balance for this event by providing superior coverage and clarity in a large space without affecting the broadcast mix, which included award presenters and emcees. Not only did the HARMAN Professional Solutions system achieve this balance, but CTS Audio was able to fly the loudspeakers high enough to keep them out of the camera shots while also providing coverage for the dispersed seating sections.

“This was definitely a tricky installation,” said Schwarz. “But the beauty of the VTX V20 and VTX V25-II systems is the pattern control they afford. We were able to move air and keep people energized without overpowering the broadcast side. On top of that, the loudspeakers delivered pristine clarity with no offensive reflections or room reverberations.”
