Shanghai Oriental TV Renovates Production Studio, Adds HARMAN's Soundcraft Vi1 Digital Console

SHANGHAI, China - One of the partner stations of the Shanghai Media Group, Shanghai Oriental TV has transformed its 500-square-meter production facility with a complete renovation, installing a HARMAN Soundcraft Vi1 digital console to control the DSP processing technology throughout the studio.  The station's 6 studios, which cover the news, guest interviews, real-time connection reports and other interactive forums, rely on four major functionality aspects of the Soundcraft digital console for quality production.

After several rounds of testing for the correct choice in consoles, studio engineers discovered the DSP processing abilities of Soundcraft, which boasts 30 years of experience in the technology.  Shanghai Media Group has been working with DSP processing for years, through an older Soundcraft B400 analog mixer.  Soundcraft's 40bit floating processing technology easily overpowered the competition in the testing rounds.

The Vistonics interface is simple to use, which impressed the engineers at Shanghai Oriental TV.  Producers at the studio emphasised that the engineering staff is not fixed, so it must be user friendly to manage with any appointed engineer. The touch screen was convenient and flexible.

Vi1's multiple additional functions, including the block function, LED lighting highlighting the different content applications and the display reinforced the decision to install Soundcraft's Vi1 Digital Console.
