SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Setai Recording Studio isn’t your average facility. It’s located in the penthouse of the Setai Hotel in South Beach, Florida. Matt Knobel is the Director of Operations and Chief Engineer for Setai Recording Studio. Knobel started his recording career working for some of the top facilities in New York and he went on to tour with Billy Joel as a keyboard technician, and joined major jingle production company JSM Music.
Then came a life-changing request to set up a Pro Tools system for Lenny Kravitz. What started out as a four-day job grew into a fourteen-year friendship and Knobel’s current position as head of Setai Recording Studio. Knobel has worked with artists including Kravitz, Mary J. Blige, Ricky Martin, Sheryl Crow, Busta Rhymes, Elton John, Chaka Khan and many others.
Knobel is noted for his sonic perfectionism, and has been responsible for many upgrades to Setai over the years – including a move to the HARMAN Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Plug-In Bundle. For years, the Lexicon 960L was his favorite reverb, but Knobel wanted to move to a plug-in reverb. It didn’t happen overnight.
“Until the Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Plug-In Bundle came along, the Lexicon 960L is the only digital reverb I would use,” notes Knobel. “I was never a fan of DAW (digital audio workstation) reverb plug-ins – until now.”
“The PCM Native Reverb Plug-In is a great complement to my 960L. Having the plug-in extends the amount of machines I can use, and I have convenient, immediate access to a wide selection of reverb types and instant recall of settings. The quality of the reverbs is exceptional – warm, rich and just stunning for adding depth and dimension to vocals, instruments and mixes,” added Knobel.
The Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Plug-In Bundle is designed to work with popular DAWs like Pro Tools® and Logic®, as well as with any other VST®, Audio Unit™ or RTAS®-compatible platform. Compatible with Windows® Vista, XP and 7 and Macintosh® computers, it offers seven unique Lexicon’s plug-ins including Vintage Plate, Plate, Hall, Room, Random Hall, Concert Hall and Chamber, along with hundreds of presets including classics from Lexicon’s extensive library of sounds.
