The Paradise Rock Club has played host to many of the world’s leading acts throughout the decades, including U2, who played their first US gig in the Boston club. With an 850-person capacity and a stage centered along a 50-foot wall, the club provides a dynamic, yet intimate venue for live music enthusiasts.
With left and right main arrays each containing four JBL VRX932LA-1 loudspeakers, Production Manager Billy ‘Bud’ McCarthy has upgraded the sound of the club, replacing an older, pre-existing system. Six JBL SRX712M stage monitors also line the club’s stage. The new JBL system now enables the venue to truly present the quality of live sound performance that has been expected of the venue for decades.
The Paradise Club also boasts six Crown XTi6000 amplifiers - four for the line array, two for the monitors - and two additional XTi4000’s for FOH. The club utilizes a BSS BLU-100 12x8 for signal processing. “The Crown amps are great for the club and we continue to bring them in as we replace our older equipment.”
“We knew we had to do something about our outdated system after hearing the new JBL system at the Boston House of Blues,” stated McCarthy. “We were all smiles as we began tuning our new JBL system. It improved the sound quality significantly, even before we turned on the subwoofers.”
“The new VRX arrays disperse the sound perfectly and the music critics attending our shows have immediately commented on the improved sound filling the room, along with the better sightlines,” McCarthy continued. “We are already in the process of planning an expanded PA with more VRX speakers on each side.”
