JBL Professional Bows Commercial Series Ceiling Speakers At InfoComm 2010

At InfoComm 2010, JBL Professional is introducing its new Commercial Series ceiling speakers, providing excellent performance for paging and background music applications, such as retail stores, restaurants, schools and other environments. These affordable ceiling speakers are designed to meet the requirements of UL1480 and UL2043 for use in plenum ceiling spaces.

The Commercial Series ceiling speakers feature high sensitivity, providing maximum sound level, even at low tap settings. The Series’ triple-voltage transformers (100V, 70V and 25V) fit with any distributed speaker system. The drivers all feature a full 1-inch (25 mm) diameter voice coil with a Kapton™ coil-former and high-temperature wire for better power dissipation and long-term reliability. The driver, grille and transformer come pre-assembled for ease of installation. The lineup includes matching Commercial Series pre-install backcans and tile rails. All Commercial Series speakers come with zinc-plated, powder-coated steel installation accessories.

The Commercial Series includes three new models: the CSS8004, CSS8008 and CSS8018. The CSS8004 is a 4-inch (100 mm) ceiling speaker with a sensitivity of 90 dB. It includes a 5W, multi-tap transformer for 100V, 70V and 25V distributed lines and offers a wide coverage of 175 degrees.

The CSS8008 is an 8-inch (200 mm) ceiling speaker with a sensitivity of 96 dB. It includes a 5W, multi-tap transformer for 100V, 70V and 25V distributed lines and offers 120 degrees of conical coverage.

The CSS8018 is an 8-inch (200 mm) ceiling speaker with a sensitivity of 97 dB. It includes a 10W, multi-tap transformer for 100V, 70V and 25V distributed lines.

“As we continue to expand JBL’s and Harman’s commercial sound product offerings, we are broadening our price-performance points to serve a wider range of customers,” stated Rick Kamlet, Senior Market Director for Commercial Sound at JBL Professional. “These three new Commercial Series ceiling speakers hit especially affordable price points, allowing us to provide products for our customers’ most cost-constrained projects.”
